The Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) joined the Gender and Development (GAD) International Webinar organized by the TESDA Women’s Center (TWC), a Platinum-level APACC institution. The international webinar was conducted on a hybrid setup from September 5 to 6, 2024.

During the opening ceremony of the webinar, TWC Chief and Association of APACC Accreditees’ (AAA) Secretariat Chairperson Ms. Mylene H. Somera delivered her welcome remarks wherein she extended her greetings to the participants, chief guests, keynote speakers, and panelists, including GCash and international partners. She also hoped for a productive and successful event for everyone.

The APACC Chairperson Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen participated as a keynote speaker on behalf of APACC President Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja. In his welcome message, Dr. Kesavan talked about having gender-responsive TVET that can provide equal opportunities for women which TWC exemplifies to foster change within communities. Dr. Kesavan also highlighted the advancement of gender-responsive TVET as aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically with Goal 5: Gender Equality, and Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. After his speech, TWC conferred a token of appreciation to APACC.

The webinar focused on the following themes: Changing Women's Lives: The Impact of a Gender-Responsive Philippine TVET in the 21st Century; and Collaboration and Network Building to Foster Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment: The Philippine TVET Experience, as anchored to the succeeding sessions. A panel discussion was also conducted during Day 2 of the webinar.
