Due to the current limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asia Pacific and Certification Commission (APACC) pivoted to its first online Accreditors’ Training held on September 7 - 10, 2020.
The training was attended by qualified and distinguished participants from India, Malaysia, and Philippines, composed of thirteen (13) delegates with various backgrounds and expertise on TVET sectors, along with three (3) Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) staff members. The activity focused on the APACC criteria, indicators, and sub-indicators; the roles, responsibilities, and expected attributes as an APACC accreditor; and the involved processes and required documents before, during, and after institutional evaluation.
CPSC Director General and APACC President, Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane, graced the training with his presence and supervision who also served as one of the resource persons. Along with Dr. Lamichhane as resource persons were the Program Coordinator Engr. Abdul Ghani Rajput and Engr. Sanyog Bhattarai, both CPSC Faculty Specialist, as well as Dr. Romulita Alto, CPSC Project-Based Faculty Consultant and seasoned APACC Accreditor. They discussed in detail the APACC Criteria and accreditation process, expected attributes of an APACC Accreditor, and shared their actual on-site visit experiences with the participants. Moreover, Ms. Adrienne Abril, APACC Officer, also served as one of the resource persons in the training and emphasized on the roles and responsibilities of the APACC team and report writing guidelines.
Participants were given group and individual tasks every after lecture and a final exam which they dutifully fulfilled to assess their learnings. The successful conclusion of the 4-day training filled with insightful lectures and sharing was made possible by the participants’ active participation and dedication which they have shown throughout the activity.
