Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, Officer-in-Charge of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) and Acting President of the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) accompanied by Prof. Dr. S.K. Dhameja, former CPSC Faculty Consultant visited the Honorable Prime Minister of Bhutan His Excellency Mr. Tshering Tobgay on October 7, 2015 in his office. CPSC appreciated the precious time spent by the Honorable Prime Minister with them during courtesy visit.

During the visit, Dr. Kulanthaivel briefed the Prime Minister about the activities of CPSC and APACC and thanked the Royal Government of Bhutan for the full cooperation and support to CPSC activities. He also apprised the Prime Minister on the then ongoing one-week In-Country Program on “Entrepreneurship and Management in TVET” and National Seminar on “Entrepreneurship Education in TVET Sector of Bhutan”, both coordinated by Dr. Dhameja and supervised by Dr. G. Kulanthaivel. The programs were attended by 30 teachers/instructors from different TVET institutions and Ministry of Labor and Human Resources (MOLHR) officials from October 5 – 9, 2015.

2015-10 courtesyvisitbhutan3In front of the Parliament of BhutanAs part of the discussion, Dr. Kulanthaivel requested the Honorable Prime Minister to nominate a senior official from MoLHR as a member of CPSC Panel of Advisers. He also explored the possibility of having a professional staff or intern from Bhutan to serve at CPSC. Dr. Dhameja fully supported Dr. Kulanthaivel on these matters.

Further, the OIC requested the Honorable Prime Minister to ask concerned officials to start the APACC accreditation services for TVET institutions of Bhutan. He assured the Honorable Prime Minister that CPSC stands fully behind the Government of Bhutan for taking its TVET system further. The Honorable Prime Minister appreciated the efforts made by CPSC in upgrading the TVET system in Bhutan and promised to look into the said matters. His Excellency also thanked Dr. Dhameja for assisting the TVET Sector of Bhutan on his several missions to Bhutan.

The delegation was accompanied by Mr. Kinley Wangdi, Director, Department of Human Resources, MoLHR, Bhutan and Mr. Sangay Dorji, Chief Program Officer, Technical and Professional Service Division of the same department and ministry.
