In order to explore opportunities for new partnership, the Officer-in-Charge of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) and the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC), Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel embarked on a meeting with Dr. A. Kalanidhi, Vice-Chairman of Commonwealth Science and Technology Academy for Research (C-STAR) and also Former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University on August 20, 2015 in Chennai, India.
As requested by Dr. A. Kalanidhi, who has linkages with engineering colleges and polytechnics in India, and also interested to subscribe to the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC), Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel participated in a meeting at C-STAR Office in Chennai and delivered a talk, titled "APACC for Accreditation and Certification of TVET Institutions in the Asia Pacific Region" to the teachers of various polytechnic colleges.
During the meeting, both parties have also discussed the possibilities of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding. This move would pave way for the promotion of APACC in India as APACC tries to expand its continuous improvement and quality TVET campaigns to more countries. More countries and institutions subscribing to APACC would eventually lead to a strengthened network resulting to ease in faculty/staff and student mobility among accredited institutions.
It will be a great beginning for the polytechnic education in India if APACC accreditation is introduced at the polytechnic level.
