Aiming for higher level accreditation, Puerto Princesa School of Arts and Trades (PPSAT), Palawan, Philippines was revisited by the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) from February 26-27, 2014.
The APACC team who revisited PPSAT was composed of Dr. Romulita Alto, APACC Accreditor and Consultant at the Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP), who acted as Team Leader; Engr. Vladimir Santos, APACC Accreditor and Director of Training and Services MFI Technological Institute, as Team Member and Ms. Arlene O. Cruz, APACC staff for PPSAT. The team reviewed PPSAT’s accomplishments undertaken based on the recommendations forwarded during the first accreditation visit and on the seven APACC criteria.

PPSAT’s Vocational School Administrator III Dr. Clarissa Posadas also showed major developments and improvements in the institution’s facilities and other physical infrastructure. The revisit was fully supported by the Faculty and Office Staff of PPSAT headed by Dr. Posadas who was assisted by the administrative team namely Ms. Corazon Manga, Head Technical Education and Training Services, Ms. Catalina M. Timbancaya, Head, General Administrative and Support Services, Ms. Lilia A. Badajos, Head, Policy and Planning Services, and Ms. Sianita Tadlas, Head, Standard-Setting and Systems Development/Quality Assurance Services.
Dr. Posadas, in her closing remarks conveyed that the “2-day APACC evaluation…awakened us to be more innovative…and create an environment of change…that I realized that there is more to be done, more to unfold, more to discover and more challenges to face. It is time to do more environmental scanning to analyze the needs of the community to be able to give quality service to our clients.” Further she expressed appreciation to Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, CPSC Director General for sending the APACC team whom they consider as a blessing to the institution for sharing their expertise, warm responses, suggestions and recommendations with them in a gracious way.
By virtue of RA 7928 PPSAT, which was formerly known as Puerto Princesa School for Philippine Craftsmen (PPSPC), became PPSAT in 1995 and started offering technical education programs. The vocational institution aims to improve the quality of life of the people by continuously providing quality technical education and training to individuals from all walks of life. It offers 23 regular programs designed to develop a competent labor force responsive to the demands of the local, national and global industries. Its vision is to be a leading institution of technical excellence in the development of highly skilled workers with world class competence and desirable work values responsive to the demands of the industry.
Reports of the revisit will be submitted by the visiting APACC team for deliberation by the APACC Board and results will be announced accordingly.
