A delagation from the TESDA Women's Center (TWC) Philippines headed by Ms. Cecile B. Gutierrez, Executive Director of TWC, visited the Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) on April 30, 2010 to learn more about CPSC’s programs and activities, benchmark quality management and standards implemented by CPSC and draw up strategies for replicating good practices in CPSC.
Dr. Shyamal Majumdar, Director General, led the CPSC team in welcoming the guests and expressed his appreciation to TWC for selecting the College in its initiative with a primary objective of learning insights that would aid in setting a good example to other TESDA technology institutes. He profusely wished TESDA through the TWC team the best in the quality journey sought to be pursued by the TESDA institutes.
In her special remarks, Ms. Gutierrez expressed her gratitude and good impressions with CPSC’s best practices which may be applicable to the TWC setting. Discussion ensued on mutually beneficial undertakings to be pursued jointly.
TWC is an internationally-recognized center of Excellence for Women in the Asia-Pacific Region that provides market-oriented, modern technology-based education and training, policy and action-oriented research, and pro-active advocacy in support of women's economic empowerment. TWC is the first Philippine-based institution under TESDA accredited and certified by the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) with silver level status for three years. The visit provided visitors with enriching insights towards maintaining or elevating TWC’s accreditation status for the next APACC audit.
Officials from CPSC and TWC at the center are Ms. Cecille B. Gutierrez, TWC Executive Director and Prof. Dr. Shyamal Majumdar, CPSC Director General. |
