In April 2010, the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC), represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Shyamal Majumdar signed an agreement with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippines represented by its current Director General, Hon. Secretary Pastor Z. Guiao, to accredit the remaining TESDA Technology Training Institutions (TTIs), a total of 132 TTIs all in all. This is in continuation to APACC’s commitment to improving the quality of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in the Philippines which started with the first sixteen (16) priority institutions.
TESDA is also considering to subject 250 private Technical Vocational institutions to voluntary accreditation, proof of TESDA’s confidence in APACC’s accreditation and certification system for TVET quality assurance.
Accreditation and certification activities in the other fourteen (14) member countries, such as the Kingdom of Thailand as the newest member, are in the pipeline.
